How to Force Dark Mode in easyDITA

You can force dark mode in easyDITA by using the Dark Reader browser extension.

Important: The Dark Reader browser extension inverts bright colors on websites to simulate dark mode. For more information, see https://darkreader.org/.

The Dark Reader browser extension is provided by a third party, and Jorsek, Inc., is not responsible for any changes in behavior, functionality, or discontinuation of the extension.

  1. Open Google Chrome™ or Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Install the Dark Reader browser extension by doing one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    If you use Google Chrome™,do the following:
    1. Go to: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh?hl=en.
    2. Click Add to Chrome.
    3. In the prompt, click Add extension.
    If you use Mozilla Firefox,do the following:
    1. Go to: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader/.
    2. Click Add to Firefox.
    3. In the top-left corner, click Add.
    4. In the top-right-corner, click Okay, Got it.
    The Dark Reader browser extension Help tab opens in your web browser. By default, the extension forces dark mode on every website that you visit.
  3. Optional: Force dark mode only for your easyDITA instance by doing the following:
    1. In the right-top corner of the browser, click .
    2. In the Dark Reader pop-up, in the Site list tab, click Invert listed only.
    3. Under Inverted list only, in the field, enter <your_organization>.easydita.com
      Where <your_organization> is the name of your organization in easyDITA.
    Dark mode is forced only for your easyDITA instance.

  4. Optional: Adjust the Dark Reader browser extension settings for your easyDITA instance by doing the following:
    1. In your web browser, go to <your_organization>.easydita.com
    2. In the right-top corner of the browser, click .
    3. In the Dark Reader pop-up, click Only for <your_organization>.easydita.com
      Where <your_organization> is the name of your organization in easyDITA.
    4. Adjust the Brightness, Contrast, Sepia, and Grayscale sliders.
